BLUES BEFORE SUNRISE FOR 7/5/15
MY VERY FIRST BLUES RECORD!

This week on Blues Before Sunrise we’ll listen to my very first Blues record. I had been listening to Fleetwood Mac but didn’t realize it was Blues, I naively regarded Mac’s music as simply a different Rock genre. But one night while visiting Old Town I visited Barbara’s Bookstore, a Chicago institution, I walked in the door and was instantly transported across the universe. The clerk, Paul Garon, was playing Elmore James which sounded like Jeremy Spencer x 1,000! The next day   I went to my local record store, Val’s Halla in suburban Oak Park. As luck would have it she had just one Elmore record – Blues In My Heart – Rhythm In My Soul on the United Label! And I was off and running. My original record is long gone.  I played it until it was gray. But we’ll reconstruct it track-by-track on CD. Join us as I play…
